Diploma in Sport
The Edexcel BTEC Diploma in Sport is a dynamic, practical qualification for students passionate about sport, fitness, and performance. Equivalent to two A Levels, it offers an in-depth study of the sports industry through a mix of theoretical and practical learning.
Entry requirements
Merit or above in Level 2 BTEC Sport and/or a GCSE PE grade 5 or above.
If not studied: A grade 4 or above in GCSE English A grade 4 : 4 or above in Science.
What to expect
This course is ideal for students who prefer continuous assessment over final exams and are considering careers in sports coaching, PE teaching, fitness training, or sports therapy.
You’ll develop industry-relevant skills in leadership, analysis, and physical training, all underpinned by solid scientific understanding.
Students who study the Diploma in Sport also follow the National Extended Certificate in Sport and additional units to qualify for the Diploma in Sport.
Units studied
9 units of which 6 are mandatory and 3 are external.

Additional Optional units are selected based on students’ knowledge and practical abilities.
