Ashura holds different meanings for Sunni and Shia Muslims. Sunnis celebrate it as the day Moses parted the Red Sea & the salvation of the Israelites. For Shias, it is a day of mourning for Husayn ibn Ali's martyrdom, the Prophet Muhammad's grandson. pic.twitter.com/3wtiRS2P3N— Valley Park School () July 5, 2025

Reviews and Comments

Lucie, Year 11

"Thank-you so much for the opportunity to be a part of Grease. I've had the best time ever and made so many new friends. Thank-you so much for everything you did for me and the rest of the cast. Everyone is so grateful. I feel like I grew so much as an individual whilst doing the show."

Parent of Year 12 student

"My whole family were blown away by the production and the abundance of talent. It was so well put together and there wasn’t a moment when our eyes weren’t drawn to something magical occurring on stage. From Year 7 to 13 everyone shone and the hard work by students and teachers was so evident to see. You and your team should be very proud of putting on a show that was worthy of the West End."

Mrs Gunn, Executive Headteacher

"I was absolutely amazed by the show last night; the commitment and the dedication that you have given to this is simply incredible. The show was full of energy, enjoyment, and professionalism from start to finish.

One student last night told me that the performance had ‘transformed her life’. She talked so passionately about how she had found a new family and the support and enjoyment it gave her being part of the show.

Several students talked about their ambitions of pursuing a performing arts career. I couldn’t have been prouder of our school last night – thank you so much and I hope the last few shows go as well as last night and you all get a well-deserved rest on Sunday!"

Hamish, Year 8

"Thank you so much for everything you have done for me these past few months; it has been an amazing experience to become Eugene, and I would also like to thank you for trusting me to play such a massive role in this production! "

Parent of Year 6 pupil

"My son and I attended the Valley Park ‘Grease’ performance last night and wanted to send congratulations to the cast, crew and all the staff that brought this production to life. The hard work was evident, and they delivered a fantastic show.

To have such an incredible value placed on The Arts and funding being so critical in education and the industry, long may it continue to be supported at Valley Park. It is such a unique offering for a secondary school, alongside academics and sport. It is wonderful to have this opportunity in Maidstone, and I hope your governors and Trustees and Boards understand how important the Arts is to so many students and their families.

Once again it was a wonderful show, we thoroughly enjoyed it and all the team from welcome to refreshments to entry to the hall were courteous, friendly, and welcoming. "

Parent

"Please can you pass on to all those involved my heart-felt congratulations on last night's performance of Grease. It was nothing short of excellent and wonderful to watch such enthusiastic and joyous performances from a highly talented group of students.

The whole production had a very professional feel about it: I can only imagine the number of additional hours staff have put towards making this so successful."

Grandparent of Year 6 pupil

"We came with our Granddaughter on Friday evening to see Grease. She will be starting at the school in September, and we thought she would enjoy the experience. We all thoroughly enjoyed the evening!

We wanted to express our thanks to the many people involved in this great production. We were very impressed with the acting and singing and all the hard work that must have taken place over many months both on stage and behind the scenes. It was certainly a production that the school can be proud of."
