Kent’s Big Writing Challenge

Valley Park English students entered Kent’s Big Writing Challenge earlier this year, and three entrants made it to the final stage.

The Kent and Medway Charity Team, in collaboration with KCC and the Reconnect Programme, asked young people across Kent to tell them about their heroes in a piece of creative writing with a maximum of 500 words. The winners were invited to an exclusive awards ceremony where they were awarded a framed certificate and a celebratory book containing all the winning entries.

We are delighted to announce that Heela in year 10 was named the overall winner for Key Stages 3 and 4 at this event. We are incredibly proud of you, Heela; Well Done!

Bert in year 10 and William in year 9 were also finalists in the competition so a massive congratulations to them too!

The following students were named as in-house winners and voted for by the English staff at Valley Park School:

  • Year 10 - Kaziah (now year 11)
  • Year 9 - Bert (who was also a Kent finalist - now year 10)
  • Year 8 - Joshua (now year 9)
  • Year 7 - Kezia (now year 8)

Congratulations all with your wonderful writing!
