Year 8 Book Launch 2021

Over the past year, our Year 8 students have been working tirelessly and diligently on the creation of their very own books.

Their journey started in Year 7, half-way through an extremely challenging year, whereby they started by listening to music and watching videos to help them open their creative minds. They also analysed pictures and short stories and looked carefully at the writer’s craft to learn about what makes an effective story.

Students planned out each stage of their stories using storyboards and generated brilliantly creative ideas! Some students explored writing from an exciting and unique perspective, whilst others discovered the effectiveness of writing in a non-linear way. They started to appreciate the editing process as they meticulously proof-read and re-drafted their writing, enabling them to create effective and engaging stories.

The English Department are extremely proud of their achievements. Their determination and motivation have not faltered throughout this process, and we're so excited to see their amazing final books.

The Year 8 students have helped put together a video celebrating their successes, including short snippets from our award winners:

Award winners were invited to a celebration breakfast on Wednesday morning and were given their certificates for:

  • Dedication and Enthusiasm for Writing
  • The Most Progress throughout the Project
  • The Most Terrifying Story
  • The Most Gripping Story
  • The Most Imaginative Story
  • The Most Impressive Story

Huge congratulations, Year 8!

If you would like to purchase a copy of your class book, you will need to go to Wisepay via our parent portal. It can be found under Shop/Revision Guides/2021/Year 8 Class Book.

The deadline for ordering this is Wednesday 7 July.
