PE
Learn about the diverse nature of sport and the interdependence of various areas of sport and physical education. Learn how athletes adapt to sporting success and failure and how they must be physically and mentally fit to succeed. Investigating the impact of technology and commercialism on participation and performance. Fully understand how to refine and analyse your own performance and how to make decisions about what to do in your own fitness and training.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Merit or above in Level 2 BTEC Sport and/or a GCSE PE grade 5 or above. Where a sport course has not been previously studied, a grade 5 or higher is required in English and Science. Students should also play in at least one sport at a club, district or national level.

HOW IT’S ASSESSED
- Component 1: Scientific Principles of Physical Education - Written examination: 2 hours and 30 minutes (40% of the qualification)
- Component 2: Psychological and Social Principles of Physical Education - Written examination: 2 hours (30% of the qualification)
- Component 3: Practical performance - Non-examined assessment: internally assessed, externally moderated (15% of the qualification)
- Component 4: Performance Analysis and Performance Development Programme - Non-examined assessment: internally assessed, externally moderated (15% of the qualification)

PROGRESSION
Studying Physical Education will prepare you for a multitude of courses at university or moving into the world of work. You will become skilled in making decisions, solving problems, communication, and working with both quantitative and qualitative data.
You will gain a greater understanding of your own practical performances to support progression to the next level of study. Develop a blend of scientific and social knowledge which will allow you to access the numerous higher education programmes.
Courses could include sports science, sports marketing, sports technology, leisure, and sports coaching. You will be a strong candidate for employment to a wide range of careers from management, to working in public sector organisations or charities.
