Valley’s Violin VIP

Young-MusicianYear 9 violinist Anastasia Egorova has competed in the Maidstone & Mid-Kent Young Musician of the Year.

Despite being one of the youngest students competing this year, Anastasia Egorova, who started to learn the violin aged only four, has competed with seven other students from schools across Mid-Kent to become Young Musician of the Year.

Anastasia, who came fourth in the competition, is studying Grade 8 violin with Julian Milone, who plays for the Philharmonia Orchestra in London, and arranged the music for the wedding of Prince Charles to Camilla Parker-Bowles.

The competition was held at the Hazlitt Arts Centre on Wednesday 14th May, and Anastasia played ‘Spring' from 'the Four Seasons' by Vivaldi, and 'Thais Meditation' by Massenet on a French violin made in 1905.

Our Students and Teachers were also spellbound by Anastasia’s solo performance of ‘In the Bleak Mid-Winter’ at the annual Carol Service, which is held in All Saints’ Church in Maidstone every December.
