Year 9 Students Raise Tie Money

Tie-DayValley Park student, Jack Gilby, was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma last July, and has been in remission since November, following chemotherapy at Royal Marsden Hospital.

Jack will be completing the ‘Marsden March’ on Sunday 16th March 2014 to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. This is a 14 mile walk between the two Royal Marsden Hospitals in London, from Chelsea to Sutton.

Jack’s initial target was £300, but as of Feb 7th 2014, Jack has raised a staggering 684% of his initial target (£2,052.50), thanks in no small part to his generous peers at Valley Park School, who raised £865.00 on the day, and Headteacher, Mr Ashdown, who agreed to match this amount.

Jack has a page where you can help him raise money for The Royal Marsden, which provides world-class diagnosis, treatment and care for cancer patients and carries out pioneering work in cancer research.
