A big part of our job is to get our students ready for the world beyond school. Our main objective when it comes to careers education, information, advice and guidance, is to ensure that our students have the best possible opportunities following their time in education and that they are the most prepared candidates when applying for their future options in a competitive world.

Careers education, information, advice and guidance is embedded in the structure of learning at Valley Park School and runs through the core of the curriculum from year 7 onwards. Focus days, assemblies, form times, group works, one to one support, parental meetings/presentations and work experience are just a few ways in which students access their careers input. The input is age appropriate and dynamic.

A fully qualified careers adviser, Mrs West, is employed full time to deliver careers education, information, advice and guidance to all students. This support is specifically designed for each year group starting from year 7 and continues throughout their time with us. In fact, we will even continue to work with students once they have left us to ensure they have reached a positive future destination.

As well as a permanent, full time careers adviser, the school follow government guidance by investing in an outside agency (The My Trust) in order to offer one to one careers guidance interviews to every year 11 student to help them with their post 16 option choices.
