Established in 1996, the UKMT is a registered charity whose aim is to advance the education of children and young people in mathematics. Over 600,000 students from over 4000 schools take part, making this the UK’s biggest national maths competition.

Our students faced tough competition from across the entire country, and six of them have received particular commendation for their achievements on the day:

Ashley Richens, Year 10, achieved Best in School, Best in Year and a Silver Award;

Fiona Wilmingon, Jack Gilby and Bree Hayward, Year 10, achieved Bronze Awards;

Amelia Moffett, Year 9, achieved Best in Year and a Bronze Award;

Zachary Byford, Year 9, achieved a Bronze Award.

This year’s challenge was found to be especially perplexing by all participants countrywide, which makes these students’ achievements even more commendable.

Valley Park’s first ever UKMT Challenge was organized by Ms Parker-Jeffery who supported our students on the day.  Well done to all participants, who included Lauren James (Year 10), Charlie Horne (Year 10), Jade Pring (Year 10), Ana Egorova (Year 10), Reece Shephard (Year 9), Josie Biggs (Year 9), Amelia Moscrop (Year 9), Jessica Crow (Year 9), Mollie Ruler (Year 9), Rebecca Ingram (Year 9), Onisha Lama (Year 9).
