Information for Students

Careers Library

Valley Park has a fully stocked careers library; containing books on a range of professions and industries, information and prospectuses on college, university, and apprenticeships as well as guides on applications, CVs and cover letters. We also advertise the latest vacancies and opportunities from local employers.

Online

As well as the library, there are a number of online websites that we recommend for careers research. Please see Mrs West for an updated list if required.

Labour Market Information

Labour market information (LMI) is key when making decisions about your future career path. It includes facts, analysis and interpretation of data gathered about employment & workers, for example: average income and wages, employment and unemployment rates in your area, hours of work, which sectors are set to grow, qualifications required, gender balance and so on.

We recommend that you spend some time looking at LMI for the industry you wish to enter into to be as informed as possible.

You can find this information either in the careers library or online at the Office for National Statistics.
