The careers adviser works alongside a team at Valley Park School together with Maidstone Borough Council to ensure we have no NEET students. Our information gathering process for this is constantly reviewed and is extremely effective.

The careers adviser continues to keep in touch with and works with any leavers and their families beyond their time at Valley Park School to seek and organise a worthwhile and appropriate destination for them.

In 2016 the majority of our year 11 students chose to stay on at Valley Park Sixth Form. Most of the remaining students went onto college (usually Mid Kent College or Hadlow) to take level 3 courses and 8 students found apprenticeships. Only 5 students decided to attend a different sixth form.

This year the majority of our year 13 students went on to university. 26 students went in to employment and 6 students into an apprenticeship.

We have strong links with our alumni and know that destinations are successful in the long term. This is due to the input regarding future options and work on understanding themselves while they are still at school. Any students who we discover has left their destination is still supported to seek an alternative.
